"Warhammer: The Old World is set in 2276, a few decades before the Great War Against Chaos, and 300 years before the previous version of the game' setting. It explores the period before the eventual apocalypse which will destroy the World, focusing on key events like the destruction of Praag and the Siege of Kislev, which marked Chaos’ resurgence.

The setting builds on existing lore but introduces some new elements, with factions like the Skaven largely absent due to internal conflicts, and the Vampire Counts weakened after the Von Carstein defeat. Key returning characters include Settra the Imperishable and the Green Knight, while others are yet to be introduced. The game offers opportunities to develop new heroes and expand the lore."

Warhammer Fantasy died in 2015 as a result of the last narrative campaign called "The End Times." It was beloved by many players and one of the flagship games of Games Workshop. This was the beginning of something new, but that's a story for a different time. This move upset many players who felt completely abandoned by the creator of the game. The fans of the game didn't allow their favourite title to fall into oblivion. They have created a fan page where the game found a new home. After a few years of absence, the creator realised that it was a bad move to completely wipe out the game, and they decided to bring it back.
